About 30 minutes drive from downtown Chicago there is a place called Da Lucianos. This amazing, cozy and bustling Italian restaurant is family owned and run. This haven for celiacs or people with gluten allergies is located in Melrose park just 30 minutes from the city of Chicago.
Each time we visit Daluciano’s we meet someone else with either celiac disease or with an allergy to wheat (which is rare!)
The gluten free boy loves the “big real” menu. He has big eyes each time we visit. It is a novelty for him to be able to sit in a restaurant and read a “normal” menu. The first time we ate there (two years ago) the gluten free boy was 9 years old. I burst out in tears when the server handed him the menu. It was the first time in his life that he was given a menu!
The waitstaff is calm, friendly and knowledgeable. They don’t seem to mind when i ask compulsively ”are you sure these are gluten free?”
I love that my kids can eat fried mozzerella! And a cannoli! This place is the best and they are so nice there. I love it!
I have heard so many good things about this restaurant. I will be visiting my husband next weekend. Hoping we will visit Da Lucianos!
