In Chicago we have had a long drawn out winter. Finally last week winter turned to summer–the temperature went from 40 to 90 degrees overnight.
Tonight for friends and family I will roll out my favorite Summer foods- all gluten free!
guacamole /corn chips
three different salsas-Frontera brand
mini hot dogs rolled in causeyourespecial pizza dough
early summer tomatoes on homemade gluten free foccaccia bread (aka bruschetta)
grilled corn on the cob
Grammie Mollie’s potato salad-recipe below
hamburger sliders served on warmed and buttered UDI’s new hamburger buns
fried chicken tenders and sweet baby rays bbq sauce
fudgy chocolate brownies
ice cream sandwiches made from home made chocolate chip cookies and baskin robbins ice cream
apple pie two ways
homemade bread made from causeyourespecial traditional white bread mix- toast or broil thick slices of bread, rub the slices with garlic-sprinkle with olive oil, salt and pepper- you have now made |
guacamole–a little chunky, but still divine! |
oh ya baby–who doesn’t love |
better then “regular” fried chicken! |
apple pie with a crumble top |
classic fudgy chocolate brownies |
baskin robbins mint chip ice cream wedged in between homemade chocolate chip cookies |
1 Tablespoon white vinegar
3 Tablespoons celery seed
1 Tablespoon grainy mustard
2 Tablespoons sugar
clean the potatoes and boil them until fork tender about 20 minutes
take the potatoes out of the hot water and rinse with cold water
allow the potatoes to cool and then peel off the skin
cut the potatoes into small chunks–uniform pieces will look better
in a separate mixing bowl combine all ingredients- gently toss thru with the potatoes. season to taste with salt and pepper. refrigerate until ready to serve.
I was under the impression that while there are some Baskin Robbins ice creams that are wheat-free, none should be considered gluten-free. Is that true?
All the food looks amazing!!! Great job!
