Aside from the abundant gluten free choices (I’ll get to that later)–Tony Priolo and Ciro Longobardo have expanded their beautiful restaurant– They have added an exquisite vaulted ceiling to a dining room which overlooks the breathtaking new kitchen! Copper pots from Chef Tony’s personal collection hang above the marble topped island (this is where the Bronzino is hand filleted). The view into the kitchen is fascinating and so fun to watch the chefs and sous chefs in action. On any given night Chef Tony can be seen in the kitchen expediting meal orders to his staff. He literally stands in the kitchen and makes sure each plate is made to perfection–no sending back over cooked pasta at this restaurant.
Gluten free choices at Piccolo Sogno include gluten free pasta made with any of their sauces, daily risotto specials, perfectly made soups (love the Summer gazpacho! Skip the crouton!) a huge selection of grilled seasonal vegetables, Italian meats and Pecorino or Parmesan cheese. Drizzle some of their special balsamic glaze and you won’t even miss the bread!
Piccolo Sogno also offers a selection of fresh fish, salads, homemade gelato and the BEST cappuccino outside of Sardinia!
The outside garden in the summer is unparalleled anywhere in the city. From the time your car is dropped with the valet–you are transported into a summer Italian garden–oversize umbrellas shield guests from inconsistent Chicago weather. Tall industrial heaters warm up diners in the early spring, late fall or freaky cold summer night– the lush garden even has a fig tree! Winter or summer, romantic dinner for two or large group meal–Piccolo Sogno is an energetic, authentic, warm and friendly place to share a divine Italian meal.
